Only 28 More Days!

Only 28 more days and we'll be in Hershey, PA!  We were looking for a pre-summer getaway and decided we wanted somewhere where we could drive.  We are planning on hitting up Hershey Park, Crayola, and Dutch Wonderland.

Anyone have any recommendations for Hershey or Pittsburg?  We'll be stopping in Pittsburg both ways and will have some extra time on our way back.

  1. Hello Andrea,
Since you are planning on going to both Hersheypark and Dutch Wonderland, I suggest you purchase their Combo Ticket which gives you admission to both parks, saves you a few dollars on admission, and also allows you to "preview" one of the parks the night before. That means, for example if you arrive in Hershey on a Friday and intend to go to the park on Saturday, you can get into the park on their "Preview Plan" 2 1/2 hours before they close on Friday night to enjoy everything for free. Also, there is a $10 parking fee at Hersheypark, so if you go Friday night for the preview and pay the $10 parking fee, keep your ticket stub and just show it to the parking attendant the next day to park for free.

I also suggest you map out your rides at Hersheypark. The more popular roller coasters line up quickly with long waits. If you're a roller coaster enthusiast, hit whichever one you really want to do first. Their new section of The Boardwalk, called The SEAquel, will be open starting Memorial Day weekend. Bring swimsuits and rent a locker which are located near The Boardwalk. The water area is also a really popular area and the new expansiion should make it even better. If you need to see a map, they have one on-line on their website site.

Dutch Wonderland also has a water play area that is great fun for the family. It's a great park without the super thrill rides of Hersheypark, but lots to see and do.

Both offer a variety of food venues too. And both have a number of great restaurants nearby as well.

  2. Thanks for all the ideas! I did read that you could do a preview night and I think we are going to do that. We are going the week before Memorial Day (we leave Hershey on Sunday before Memorial Day) so I think we might miss out on the water parks. The look like a lot of fun though. Are you a local? Is there any good local places to eat?
